【摘要】:Identificationofarecoveredoilisdeterminedbycomparisonwithknownoilsselectedbecauseoftheirpossiblerelationshiptotheparticularrecoveredoil,forexample,suspectedorquestionedsources.Thus,samplesofsuchknownoilsmustbecollectedandsubmittedalongwiththeunknownforanalysis.Itisunlikelythatidentificationofthesourcesofanunknownoilbyitselfcanbemadewithoutdirectmatching,thatis,solelywithalibraryofanalyses.1.1Thispracticecoversthepreparationforanalysisofwaterborneoilsrecoveredfromwater.Theidentificationisbaseduponthecomparisonofphysicalandchemicalcharacteristicsofthewaterborneoilswithoilsfromsuspectsources.Theseoilsmaybeofpetroleumorvegetable/animalorigin,orboth.Sevenproceduresaregivenasfollows:1.2ProceduresfortheanalyticalexaminationofthewaterborneoilsamplesaredescribedinPracticeD3415,D3328,D3414,andD3650.Refertotheindividualoilidentificationtestmethodsforthesamplepreparationmethodofchoice.Thedeasphaltingeffectsofthesamplepreparationmethodshouldbeconsideredinselectingthebestmethods.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificcautionstatementsaregiveninSections6and32.
