【摘要】:Hardnesssaltsinwater,notablycalciumandmagnesium,aretheprimarycauseoftubeandpipescaling,whichfrequentlycausesfailuresandlossofprocessefficiencyduetocloggingorlossofheattransfer,orboth.Hardnessiscausedbyanypolyvalentcations,butthoseotherthanCaandMgareseldompresentinmorethantraceamounts.Thetermhardnesswasoriginallyappliedtowaterinwhichitwashardtowash;itreferredtothesoap-wastingpropertiesofwater.Withmostnormalalkalinewater,thesesoap-wastingpropertiesaredirectlyrelatedtothecalciumandmagnesiumcontent.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofhardnessinwaterbytitration.Thistestmethodisapplicabletowatersthatareclearinappearanceandfreeofchemicalsthatwillcomplexcalciumormagnesium.Thelowerdetectionlimitofthistestmethodisapproximately2to5mg/LasCaCO3;theupperlimitcanbeextendedtoallconcentrationsbysampledilution.Itispossibletodifferentiatebetweenhardnessduetocalciumionsandthatduetomagnesiumionsbythistestmethod.1.2Thistestmethodwastestedonreagentwateronly.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoensurethevalidityofthetestmethodforwatersofuntestedmatrices.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
