【摘要】:Unlessthereisapropermatchbetweentheexpansionsoftheglazeandthebody,allglazedwhitewaresmaycontainresidualstressesfromthefiringthatbondedtheglazetothebody.Inaddition,whitewaresareincreasinglysubjectedtothermalstressesinservice.Hence,animportantusecriterionforaglazedwhitewareisadequateresistancetorepeatedabruptthermalchanges.Inmostcases,theresultofinadequateresistancetothermalshockistheappearanceofacrazepatternintheglaze.Thiscrazepatternisvisiblebyinspectionwithobliquelightingandapplicationofasuitableinkordye.Thistestmethodisapplicabletovitreouswhitewaresthathavenegligiblecrazingasaresultofmoistureexpansion.Fornonvitreousandsemivitreousbodies,refertoTestMethodC424.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistancetocrazingoffired,glazed,ceramicwhitewareswhenstressesresidualafterglostfiringmaycauseatendencytocraze,suchstressesbeinginducedbyfactorsotherthanmoistureexpansion.1.2Thistestisnotintendedtoinducemoistureexpansion,whichfactshouldbekeptinmindifthematerialstobeevaluatedmayexhibitmoistureexpansion.Note18212;TestMethodC424coversamethodfordeterminingresistancetocrazinginducedbymoistureexpansion.Itsuseisgenerallyconfinedtotestingnonvitreousandsemivitreousceramicwhitewaresbecausetheseproductsmaybesubjecttosuchexpansion.Forwhitewareswithnegligiblemoistureexpansion(suchasvitreousandimperviousware),thethermalshockmethoddescribedhereinisgenerallytobepreferred.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatement,seeWarningin6.3.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.
